Ice fisherman rescued after falling through ice near Cody
CODY, Wyo. — The Park County Search and Rescue team successfully saved an ice fisherman this weekend after he fell through the ice at Markham Reservoir near Cody, Wyoming.
The Park County Search and Rescue Foundation reported they received a call yesterday afternoon about the incident. When rescue crews arrived at the scene, they discovered that two fishermen had fallen through the ice.
Both men managed to get themselves out of the water before help arrived. One man had been submerged for about five minutes, while the other was in the water for three minutes. Each received medical care.
Rescue crews reminded residents that temperature fluctuations impact ice stability, making it potentially unsafe for ice fishing.
