Introducing next year’s editor-in-chief

I am excited to announce that I have been selected as the Exponent’s Editor-in-Chief for the 2019-20 academic year. I began working for the Exponent as a sports writer in the fall of 2017 on a whim. I had always enjoyed following MSU athletics, and was urged by current Editor-in-Chief Julia Connelley to apply. After a few weeks at the Exponent I realized my passion for writing and haven’t looked back since.

During my time as a writer I covered many of the MSU sporting events and also worked to profile athletes and preview upcoming seasons. At the conclusion of the 2017-18 academic year, I was selected by Connelley to be the new sports and outdoors editor. Over the past year, I have worked to grow the sports and outdoors section while also contributing content to other sections of the paper.

Outside of the Exponent, I am pursuing a degree in mechanical engineering. This fall I will be entering my senior year in the program. I have also written for other publications including HERO Sports and Bobcat Football Magazine. My content has focused on covering FCS Football, with an emphasis on the Bobcats.

Next year, I plan on expanding the Exponent audience and working to ensure that as a newspaper we are creating content that makes students, faculty and community members excited to pick up the Exponent each week. I am looking forward to the year to come and growing the already rich tradition of the Exponent in the MSU and Bozeman community.
