Letter to the editor: Where are Montana’s leaders as Trump pushes the limits?

All three of my Montana representatives appear to be silent about Trump's demand for a $1.8 billion slush fund. They appear to be silent about the tax audit immunity that the IRS just granted Trump. Silent about the shameless profiting, insider trading, and overall corruption that enable him and his family to make endless fortunes, which they will likely pay little to no taxes on. They turn the other cheek at our decimated federal agencies, the cruelty of ICE, the Epstein files, the insults to our allies, the rejection of aid for our citizens and those around the world, the unqualified people nominated for the cabinet, judiciary, and other essential positions — and at so many other things that have diminished America's greatness and our democracy.

Trump doesn't deserve the sacrifices that Sen. Sheehy and Rep. Zinke made by serving in the military. They and Sen. Daines don't deserve the sacrifices the Capitol police made defending them on Jan. 6. Shame on Republicans for distorting the truth of that day in defense of a revenge-obsessed liar.

I would like to think you'd want to do what's right for Montanans and our country and stop being his yes-men. But the answer is clearly that Montanans must vote for Democrats or Independents in the upcoming elections. It's the only way Trumpism and Project 2025 can end.
