Lt. Gov., Montana National Guard recognize Month of the Military Child

HELENA, Mont. - Every April is recognized as the Month of the Military Child.

And for Monday’s share the good, Lieutenant Governor Kristen Juras and the Montana National Guard hosted a ceremony to honor military children across Montana.

The Month of the Military Child is a national recognition of the vital role military children play in sustaining the force.

Montanans serve at one of the highest rates per capita in the nation and as of 2017, there were over 6,000 children of military service members in the state.

Montana National Guard officials say guard families are woven into communities, often balancing school, work, and daily life with the demands of military training, emergency response, and overseas deployments.

Part of Monday's ceremony in Helena highlighted that when the military parent has to leave for service, the children are the solid foundation providing support at home.

Montana National Guard officials add this event further underscores the impact and success of the Montana National Guard's Military and Family Readiness program.
