Missoula community gathers to remember Danit Ehrlich on her birthday

MISSOULA, Mont. - Friends and loved ones of Danit Ehrlich gathered at Jacob’s Island Dog Park on Monday to remember her on what would have been the Colorado travel nurse's 35th birthday.

Ehrlich was reported missing near the dog park on February 21, and her body was recovered from the Clark Fork River on March 9 after an extensive search.

"Her passing touched many throughout our community and prompted an extensive search and recovery effort involving numerous first responders, volunteers, and partner agencies," the Missoula Police Department said in a social media post.

MPD attended the gathering along with family members of Ehrlich.

"While no words can ease the loss felt by those closest to her, today’s gathering was a beautiful tribute to Danit’s life and the memories that continue to live on through her family and friends," the police department said. "Members of the Missoula Police Department were honored to attend in support of Danit’s loved ones and to remember her."

Ehrlich would have turned 35 on June 1, 2026.
