Missoula Marathon sells out as 1,700 runners sign up

MISSOULA, Mont. — Run Wild Missoula announced the 2026 Missoula Marathon, June 26-28, sold out its 26.2-mile race with a record 1,700 registered runners.

According to organizers, runners signed up from all 50 states and 11 countries.

Registration remains open for the half marathon, Tony Banovich 5K and Kids Marathon. Organizers said the half marathon is 84% full with less than 500 spots left.

With race weekend five weeks away, organizers expect total participation across all events to top 8,000.

Trisha Drobeck, executive director of Run Wild Missoula and race director for the Missoula Marathon, said the growth showed how much the event had expanded.

“This growth reflects what we’ve been seeing for several years — the Missoula Marathon has truly become a destination race,” said Trisha Drobeck. “Runners are choosing Missoula not only because of the fast, beautiful course, but because of the incredible community experience they have here. The support from volunteers, local businesses, spectators and partners throughout the city is what makes this event so special.”

According to Destination Missoula and the Destination International Impact Calculator, race weekend brought more than $4.2 million to the local community in 2025.

The marathon also continued its partnership with Montana Youth Homes. Organizers said they had raised $86,000 toward a $100,000 goal to support youth and families across Montana.
