Mobile Library to arrive soon in Helena
HELENA, Mont. – A new mobile library is rolling out of Helena, set to be fully operational this month. In front of the Lewis and Clark Library, the Mobile Library will have an unveiling party on June 16.
At the downtown walking mall in front of the library, Lewis and Clark Library will celebrate the arrival of the new Mobile Library with live music from Dan Henry, food, and community fun.
The block party will be in Anchor park. Community members will be able to tour the new Mobile Library, and grab a sweet treat from Big Dipper.
Montana residents may remember the Bookmobile, a mobile service to bring the library to the community.
It has been rebranded as the Mobile Library, to bring books, technology, programming, and library services to residents throughout Lewis and Clark County. Residents will also be able to get library cards.
The Lewis and Clark Library will now have more than just the Mobile Library for community reach called the Outreach fleet.
The Outreach van will bring library services to locations too small for the Mobile Library. Assisted living facility lobbies are one of the places that can be visited. The van brings a small collection of books, crafts and more.
The Words on Wheels (WoW) Library is a library bicycle during the summer. It provides free Wi-Fi, a small collection of books for checkout, take and make craft kits, and sign ups for library cards.
The smallest of the “Outreach Fleet” is the Play Bookmobile, giving kids a chance to play pretend and be outreach librarians. The Play Bookmobile can be found in places like Exploration Works, the Library Children’s Area, or the lobby of Helena Food Share.
The Mobile Library begins its routes to bring books, technology and library services directly to neighborhoods, schools, senior living facilities and community events starting next week.
