Montana lawmakers respond after Trump unharmed in hotel shooting

MONTANA — Several Montana politicians responded after official reporting said President Trump was not hurt when a gunman fired shots inside the hotel where the Washington correspondents dinner was taking place.

The Secret Service said the gunman ran through security and exchanged gunfire with agents and police. Officials identified the suspect as Cole Tomas Allen, 31, of Torrance, California.

The president, vice president and those attending the dinner were not hurt. The motive remained unclear.

“Relieved to hear that at-potus is unharmed & praying for all those who were in attendance,” Sen. Steve Daines said.

“God once again protected President Trump

Thank you to the brave Secret Service professionals,” Rep. Zinke said.

“Grateful for the swift action by our law enforcement tonight.” Sen. Sheehy said.
