Nearly 300 students to graduate from Carroll College during Saturday's commencement

Nearly 300 Carroll College students are set to graduate this Saturday in a commencement ceremony that will also honor the classes of 1967 and 1977 and feature a performance from the Magpie Drummers and Singers.

The day will kick off at 9:30 a.m. with a Baccalaureate Mass at the Cathedral of Saint Helena, which is a ticketed event. Commencement for the 281 graduating undergraduate and graduate students will start at 1 p.m. at Valley Bank Field at Nelson Stadium. Gates will open at noon.

To start the ceremony, the Magpie Drummers and Singers, an intertribal drum group, will perform a Native American honor song.

Dr. Alan Hansen, a communications professor at Carroll, will provide the faculty address, and Dr. Jennifer Glowienka, Carroll’s interim co-president and president-elect, will provide the president’s address for graduating students.

The class of 2026’s student-elected senior speaker will be Christopher Jack Conway, of Creswell, Oregon, who is graduating cum laude with a double major in biology and self-designed major in chemical biology. Conway also holds minors in chemistry and neuroscience.

Carroll will also honor faculty and students with the Outstanding Teaching Award, Distinguished Scholar Award, Faculty Emeriti, Bishop Gilmore Memorial Award for Outstanding Scholarship (for the student with the highest GPA), the Raymond G. Hunthausen Outstanding Service Award and the Michael Murphy Award for Outstanding Collegiate Citizenship.
