Manhattan Public Schools opts against athletic complex bond

Manhattan Public Schools will run a general fund operating levy election in May for its high school and elementary districts but will not ask voters to decide on a bond for an athletic complex.

“Community feedback has made it clear—now is not the right time for an athletic complex bond,” reads a Monday statement from Manhattan School District #3 “Instead, the priority is supporting our classrooms and our teachers.”

The levy increase is sought to support teachers and staff, “especially as the high cost of housing in the Gallatin Valley makes it difficult for many to live in our community,” according to the district.

“We will continue sharing information and updates leading up to April 15, when ballots are mailed,” reads the statement. “Have questions or want to learn more? Vendors sought for Belgrade Farmers Market

Vendors are invited to join the Belgrade Farmers Market this summer.

The farmers market will take place every Thursday from June 18 through Sept.17, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Lewis & Clark Park.

“Local growers, bakers, makers, and other vendors are invited to participate,” reads a Monday statement from the City of Belgrade.

Vendor fees are $10 per market or $100 for the full season for vendors within the Belgrade Regional Parks, Trails and Recreation District, and $15 per market or $150 for the full season for vendors outside the district.

A Vendor Workshop will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. April 14 at the Belgrade Public Library and Community Center for anyone interested in learning more about participating. Attendees can register for this event at https://tinyurl.com/52m9txm2.

Veterans of foreign service invited to monthly meetings

The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #12112 holds monthly meetings in Belgrade.

The VFW members meet at 7 p.m. the second Tuesday of the month at the Mint Café and Bar, 27 E. Main St.

“All veterans of foreign service who are interested in becoming members are welcome,” reads a statement from the group.

Singer sought for rodeo event

The Three Forks Rodeo Arena and Event Center is looking for someone to sing the national anthem in July.

“Whether you’re experienced or just passionate about singing, we’d love to hear you—this is a fun, supportive opportunity to perform in front of a live audience!” reads a Monday statement from the rodeo venue.

The singer who is chosen will sing the “Star-Spangled Banner” at events on July 17 and 18.

“Submit a short video of you singing the National Anthem, or attend our in-person audition at the next Board meeting, April 6 at 5:30PM at City Hall (206 Main Street, Three Forks),” reads the statement. “All ages welcome.”

The deadline to apply is 4 p.m. April 2.
