Now arriving, Brent Vigen

Bobcat Athletics announced that Wyoming offensive coordinator Brent Vigen would become the 33rd head coach of the Bobcat football program. The announcement came on Monday, Feb. 8, after a long national search that attracted some of the biggest names in college football.

Vigen will take over the program, which many regard as a potential for the national championship. In 2019 the Cats made it to the semi-finals before losing to the eventual National Champion North Dakota State University (NDSU) Bison. Vigen has been on the Cowboys coaching staff since 2014, where he has served as the team's associate head coach, offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach since 2017.

The 45-year-old also has experience working at the premier FCS program, NDSU. Vigen served in various coaching roles from 1998-2013 including tight end, running back and quarterback coach as well as offensive coordinator from 2009-13. Vigen hails from the very program that he coached at for 16 years, as he was a tight end at NDSU from 1993-97.

Vigen has a knack for developing NFL quarterbacks. While at NDSU, Vigen helped mold Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz, and at Wyoming, he had a hand in creating 2021 NFL MVP finalist and starting Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen.

Looking ahead, the Bobcats will open the 2021 season in Laramie, Wyo., on Saturday, Sept. 4, against Vigen’s old boss, Craig Bohl and the Wyoming Cowboys. Good luck Coach Vigen and congratulations on the new role. And, as always, Go Cats Go.
