Police blotter: Driver arrested for burglary and assault

Out on patrol

An officer was out on patrol at around 1 a.m. on Sunday when he noticed a suspicious truck leaving Sentry Storage, 1110 Hayes Ave.

Located just off Continental Drive, the officer noticed one of the units was partially opened. The officer decided to pursue the suspicious truck, which reportedly fled the scene.

The driver, Robert J. O’Brien, 55, of Butte, allegedly attempted to ram the patrol car with an officer inside. He then reportedly abandoned the truck at Yale and Pinion Avenues, fleeing on foot.

O’Brien was apprehended a short distance away and put in handcuffs. He was jailed for burglary and assault on a peace officer causing bodily injury.

Inside the truck were items allegedly taken from the storage unit.

Outside warrant

Just after midnight on Wednesday, officers arrived at Grizzly Trail in Rocker to investigate a disturbance. At the scene was Cory A. Ashley, 26, of Helena.

An outside warrant had been issued for Ashley’s arrest, along with a Butte City Court warrant, and he was taken into custody.

Sitting in truck

At around 9:35 p.m. on Tuesday, Cade P. LaDouceur, 22, of Butte was sitting in a truck outside the Richest Hill Casino, 20 W. Galena St.

An officer recognized LaDouceur and knew a felony warrant for aggravated assault had been issued for his arrest, along with a warrant out of Butte City Court. He was taken into custody.

Facial recognition

Late Tuesday afternoon, an officer recognized Bryant M. Hansen, 34, of Butte as he was standing near the intersection of East Woolman and North Wyoming streets.

Hansen had a warrant out for his arrest out of Judge Jerome McCarthy’s court and was taken to the Butte Detention Center.

At the jail, syringes, along with a clear, crystal-like substance was discovered in his backpack and he was also jailed for criminal possession of dangerous drugs and criminal possession of drug paraphernalia.

Second offense

Herbert P. Shannon Jr., 64, of Butte was arrested at around noon on Tuesday for violating a protective order (second offense).

Shannon reportedly got into an argument with the woman who had requested the protective order in the 100 block of West Broadway Street.

Window broken

A window at The Wine Cellar, 219 W.  Park St., was reported broken on Monday morning window 219 W. Park St.

Rocks thrown

It was reported at around 12:20 p.m. on Monday that rocks were thrown at a residence in the 1500 block of North Main Street.

Church break-in

Early Tuesday, someone entered the Old Fashion Baptist Church, 5003 Wynne Ave., and took a microphone and headphones. The inside door of the church was also damaged.
