Police blotter: Late-night temper leads to arrest
Alleged threats
Late Wednesday night, Allen R. Boyle, 26, of Butte was allegedly threatening people at a residence in the 3200 block of Busch Street.
The residents told officers they did not know Boyle, who was reportedly hitting their door with a golf club and attempting to open the door, which was secure.
Boyle’s alleged late-night temper led to his arrest for attempted burglary and assault with a weapon.
Warrant issued
A warrant had been issued for the arrest of Spencer T. Landreth, 39, of Butte and officers went to his residence in the 500 block of North Main Street to take him into custody.
Landreth reportedly did not want to be placed in handcuffs and made his feelings known. So, he was also jailed for resisting arrest.
In custody
At 10:15 a.m. on March 20, an officer out on patrol saw Brittney M. Cupp, 39, of Butte in the 700 block of Zarelda Street.
The officer knew Butte District Court had issued a $50,000 warrant for her arrest for assault with a weapon and took her into custody.
Dog stolen
On Thursday night, a man living in the 1300 block of Casey Street reported to police that his 2½-year-old blue heeler had been stolen.
Parole violation
Victor D. Schwartz, 38, of Ford, Washington, was booked into the Butte Detention Center at around 5 p.m. on Thursday for a parole violation.
Business dispute
A business dispute in the 1700 block of 4 Mile Road led to the Thursday arrest of Walter M. Yochim, 52, of Butte.
Just before 11 a.m., officers arrived to investigate the dispute and learned that Yochim had two warrants out for his arrest for violating a no-contact order. He was taken into custody.
Traffic stops
—An officer pulled over Charles D. McDowell, 43, of Billings at around 12:40 p.m. on Wednesday near the intersection of Mercury and Wyoming streets. A warrant had been issued for McDowell out of Billings. He was also jailed for criminal possession of drug paraphernalia (a syringe), no license plates displayed and driving with a suspended driver’s license.
—Just after 8 a.m. on Thursday, an officer pulled over John A. Maldonado, 55, of Butte in the 300 block of West Iron Street. Besides two local warrants, another warrant had been issued out of Broadwater County for his arrest, and he was taken to jail.
Jail booking
Austin R. Martyn, 42, of Butte was booked into the Butte Detention Center at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday on two outstanding warrants.
Out jaywalking
An officer saw Samantha M. Allen, 36, of Bozeman reportedly jaywalking just before 4:30 a.m. on Tuesday in the 500 block of North Main Street.
The officer stopped to talk to Allen, who was then arrested for the alleged jaywalking. She also had a warrant out of Bozeman for partner or family member assault.
Monday disturbance
Deangelo T. Baga, 25, of Butte was allegedly involved in a disturbance late Monday morning with a woman in the 700 block of South Colorado Street.
Baga reportedly struck the woman and was taken into custody for partner or family member assault. A warrant had also been previously issued for his arrest.
Several offenses
An officer saw Cody M. Gavin, 35, of Butte in a vehicle parked on Cobban Street at around 11:45 a.m. on Monday and knew a warrant had been issued for his arrest.
Gavin was also jailed for being a habitual offender operating a motor vehicle, operating a low-speed electric vehicle without license plates, no liability insurance (fourth or subsequent offense) and driving a vehicle with a suspended driver’s license (second offense).
Woman pushed
Just before 6:30 p.m. on March 22, Ethan M. Schmidt, 24, of Butte was in a vehicle with a woman near the intersection of Ohio and New streets and allegedly threw a water bottle at her and forced her out of the vehicle.
Schmidt was arrested for partner or family member assault causing bodily injury.
DUI offense
A transient, Steven C. Skinner, 59, was booked into the Butte Detention Center at 10:12 p.m. on March 20 for driving under the influence (4th or subsequent), operating a vehicle with license plates not properly displayed, driving without a valid driver’s license and failure to carry proof of insurance.
Jailed for assault
Following a late-night disturbance on March 20, Michael A. Sternod, 36, of Butte was arrested at a residence in the 10 block of East Greenwood Avenue for partner or family member assault causing reasonable apprehension of bodily injury.
