Police blotter: Man jailed for unlawful possession of firearm

Traffic stop

During a routine traffic stop at around 11:45 p.m. on Thursday in the 600 block of South Wyoming Street, Joseph Z. Pruett, 32, of Butte was taken into custody.

Pruett was jailed for unlawful possession of a firearm by a convicted person and operating a vehicle without liability insurance (second offense). A warrant had been issued out of Butte City Court as well.

A routine search early Wednesday afternoon at a residence in the 2200 block of Oregon Avenue by Adult Probation & Parole officials led to the arrest of Gary L. Button, 63, of Butte.

Button was jailed for criminal possession of dangerous drugs (a small baggie of suspected methamphetamine) and criminal possession of drug paraphernalia (pipes and syringes). A warrant had also been issued for his arrest out of Butte Justice Court.

Jail booking

Casey J. Herring, 41, of Butte was booked into the Butte Detention Center at noon on Wednesday for violating conditions of release.

Found unconscious

Shortly before 1 a.m. on Thursday, Cameron M. Cupp, 25, of Butte was reportedly found unconscious in a vehicle in the 100 block of East Broadway Street.

Cupp was sitting in the driver’s seat and the car was allegedly still running and set in reverse.

Officers woke up Cupp, who reportedly appeared to be intoxicated, and took him to jail. He also had some outstanding warrants.

In custody

Just before midnight on Wednesday, an officer saw Ryan C. McConnell, 41, of Butte near the intersection of Broadway and Wyoming streets.

The officer knew warrants had been issued for McConnell’s arrest and took him into custody without incident.

Moving out

On Wednesday night, some people were in the process of moving out of a residence in the 10 block of La Platte Street. In the process of moving, someone came into the residence and took a chain saw, an air compressor and an electric range.
