Police blotter: Saturday night road rage leads to arrest in Butte

Firearm displayed

Just after 7 p.m. on Saturday, it was reported that two drivers got into a dispute because neither one of the men liked how the other one was driving.

According to the police report, the unidentified driver yelled at Tyson S. Matauaina, 19, of Butte, who allegedly responded by displaying a firearm and then pointing the gun, which had a green laser, at him.

Officers found Matauaina, who matched the description given by the other driver, in the 100 block of Trinity Loop.

Matauaina reportedly had in his possession a firearm with a green laser and was arrested for assault with a weapon.

Cell phone dispute

At around 10:15 p.m. on Sunday, it is alleged that 60-year-old Cheryl L. Carpenter got into a dispute over a cell phone with a juvenile girl at a residence in the 200 block of Elderberry Lane.

Carpenter reportedly used force to open a door at the residence, causing the door to strike the juvenile in the chest.

The Butte woman was arrested for assault on a minor.

Out for a joyride

Daniel R. Stine, 55, of Butte was walking near Lisac’s Tire warehouse at 3920 Wynne Ave., at around 4:30 p.m. on Friday. While there, he allegedly decided to take off in a 25-foot box truck at the warehouse.

Officers located the truck heading north on Harrison Avenue, but Stine reportedly refused to stop.

Stop sticks were placed near the intersection of Harrison and Elizabeth Warren Avenues and Stine was eventually taken into custody for motor vehicle theft, eluding police and driving a motor vehicle with a suspended driver’s license.

Flagged down

Also at around 4:30 p.m. on Friday, a woman with her hazard lights on had pulled over near the intersection of Granite and Washington streets and flagged an officer down.

The driver told the cop that while she was driving, she and Tracie R. Small, 46, of Butte got into an altercation and Small struck her and then grabbed her key fob and cell phone, preventing the driver from calling 911.

Small was arrested for tampering with a communication device.

Sound asleep

Christopher M. McCulley, 31, of Butte and an unidentified woman were sound asleep in  a car in the parking lot at McDonald’s, 3001 Harrison Ave., at around 8:40 a.m. on Friday.

When an officer went to the window to check on the sleeping couple, he observed a pipe with residue.

In the driver’s seat was McCulley, who had several warrants out for his arrest out of Butte-Silver Bow. During the investigation, a scale was found, along with two small baggies of suspected methamphetamine.

McCulley was jailed on the outstanding warrants, along with criminal possession of drugs with intent to distribute and criminal possession of drug paraphernalia.

Move along

Shortly after 9 p.m. on Friday, emergency room staff reported that a person at their facility had outstayed their welcome and was asked to leave. So, the person decided to move along.

Left overnight

Two vehicles were left overnight on Bluebird Trail. When the owners went to retrieve the vehicles just before 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, all the windows had been broken out of both cars.

Afternoon discovery

Early Saturday afternoon, it was discovered that a window on a silver Buick Regal was broken out while it was parked in the 700 block of South Main Street.

Under investigation

Just before 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, it was reported that a garage in the 1700 block of Harrison Avenue had been broken into. The case is currently under investigation.
