Police blotter: Woman gets locked in a bedroom

Tuesday disturbance

A disturbance erupted between a man and a woman at around 11 p.m. on Tuesday at a residence in the 800 block of West Mercury Street.

It is alleged Nicholas J. Libby, 32, of Butte locked the woman in a bedroom and when she escaped the room, he reportedly pushed her and then locked her outside the home, even though she was wearing minimal clothing.

Libby was taken into custody for partner or family member assault causing bodily injury, criminal endangerment, unlawful restraint and obstructing a peace officer.

In handcuffs

Christopher M. Smith, 35, of Butte was in handcuffs by Monday afternoon following a disturbance at a residence in the 2800 block of Pine Street.

Smith allegedly got into an argument with a woman and reportedly tried to tear her phone out her hand, damaging the charger. Fearing for her safety, the woman left the residence and ran down the street to another location to call 911.

He was arrested for partner or family member assault causing bodily injury (second offense).

Just sitting

An officer on patrol saw Gage A. Daniels, 22, of Butte on Monday afternoon sitting in a car parked in a lot near the old New Deal Bar, 333 S. Arizona St. Several warrants had been issued for his arrest.

As the officer headed towards the vehicle, Daniels reportedly jumped out and took off running. The officer was able to catch up with him, but Daniels reportedly was in the mood to resist being arrested, and continued to be until he was tased.

At the jail, a baggie of suspected methamphetamine and syringes were found in his coat pocket.

Besides the warrants, Daniels was also jailed for resisting arrest, escape, criminal possession of dangerous drugs and criminal possession of drug paraphernalia.

Criminal mischief

On Monday afternoon, it was discovered that spray paint was used on one side of a motorhome parked in the 900 block of South Colorado Street.

Unknown substance

Just after 3 p.m. on Monday, a baggie containing an unknown substance was found inside a bus at the Bus Transfer Station and turned over to police.

Near Big M

Gunshots were reportedly heard near the Big M at 8:15 p.m. on Monday, but when officers arrived, no one was around.

Car egged

Just after 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, it was reported that eggs were thrown at a woman’s vehicle in the 700 block of Lexington Avenue.

Mail stolen

Late Tuesday afternoon, it was reported mail was taken from a residence’s mailbox in the 800 block of Maryland Avenue.
