Presley Whitaker, Wife Of MSU Head Rodeo Coach Kyle Whitaker, Injured In Horse Accident

Bozeman, Mont. — An overnight update from Montana State University rodeo head coach Kyle Whitaker says his wife Presley is currently being treated in Salt Lake City after a horse accident.  

Whitaker posted on Facebook late Tuesday night and said that Presley suffered a broken jaw and a severed right hand after a rope wrapped around her hand, where she later hit a fence. 

Nonstop Local spoke with MSU assistant rodeo coach Savannah Bolich, who confirmed the accident happened at the MSU practice facility with some student athletes present. Bolich also confirmed that the incident did not happen during practice. 

Bolich shared a statement about how the rodeo program is responding.  

“This incident has been felt deeply by our whole program, but our main concern is supporting the Whitaker family. We do ask for respect of the family's privacy as they navigate a long road of healing,” Bolich said.  

Coach Whitaker also said updates on the situation would be posted to social media as more information becomes available.
