Ravalli County officials approve 4-lot subdivision in Stevensville

Ravalli County Commissioners gave final approval for a four-lot subdivision in Stevensville and Subdivision Improvement Agreement (SIA) during a meeting Monday, Mach 30 in Hamilton.

The Willo 4 subdivision is located at 511 Willoughby Lane in Stevensville to the east of Eastside Highway.

The minor subdivision was conditionally approved on May 7, 2025. During Monday's meeting, Ravalli County Planning Department Director and Floodplain Administrator Rob Livesay said the Planning Department has determined the mitigating conditions not covered by the SIA have been met and recommended approval.

Livesay said Jeff Jessop of Aspen Acres LLC submitted an SIA due to a failed compaction test on the road. Compaction tests determine if the road base, which is made of crushed stone, sand and other materials will cause a road to settle over time. Settling creates surface cracks and instability in paved roads. The Road Department recommended a three-inch asphalt overlay be done in two years to allow the road base to settle.

Jessop obtained a letter of credit to cover the work in the SIA in the amount of $22,500 which will cover the necessary pavement overlay required by the Ravalli County Road and Bridge Department. The pavement overlay will take place in fall of 2027.
