GREAT FALLS, Mont. — A man struggling to stay afloat in the Missouri River was pulled to safety today, Great Falls Police said in a release.

Police said the man resisted rescuers as crews worked to reach him near the 9th Street bridge. Officers said he appeared unharmed when responders finally got him out of the river.

The rescue brought several emergency vehicles to the area and caused traffic delays near the bridge.

Great Falls Police said they offered drone support to Great Falls Fire Rescue and the Cascade County Sheriff’s Office during the operation.
