Roots Fest returns to Missoula with August headliners set
MISSOULA, Mont. — Missoula’s River City Roots Festival returns August 21 and 22 with two nights of headline acts and a full schedule in downtown.
Organizers announced the 20th annual event would bring The Infamous Stringdusters to the main stage on Saturday night. The Grammy-winning bluegrass group will return to Missoula after a 2018 performance that featured a surprise appearance from Billy Strings.
Friday night’s top act will be The Honey Island Swamp Band. The group is set to bring its New Orleans “Bayou Americana” sound to downtown Missoula.
The free two-day festival will feature live music, local food trucks, artists, a four-mile run and family events in Caras Park.
Organizers said Roots Fest has grown from a small, one-day event into a destination festival that drew people from across the country.
Caras Park remains at the center of the event as Missoula prepares to host one of its biggest summer street parties.
