Sky Cycle launches at Missoula airport with focus on wellness
Missoula, Mont. — A new fitness option has arrived at Missoula International Airport, giving people another way to stay active while they wait for flights.
The launch of Sky Cycle marked the start of a wellness amenity at MSO. The airport said the bikes could offer movement during downtime in the terminal.
I stopped by MSO for a first look and tested the cycle at the airport. I also spoke with Sky Cycle founder Tana Burke about her plans for the program in Montana and beyond.
“Obviously we want to represent all of Montana but more than anything we really want people to achieve wellness on their downtime,” Burke said.
MSO Airport Director Brian Ellestad said the airport hoped to help Burke refine the idea by letting her hear directly from travelers and learn what they wanted. He said that process could help shape a wider rollout.
“I think it's actually a national craze that you know we're hoping to help her out kind of work through the bugs,” Ellestad said. “She can be here and you know talk to our customers and see what they're looking for. So that way she can kind of fine tune it before she rolls it out to a national audience.”
Ellestad also said the concept could stay at MSO and possibly grow into other airports while supporting local economies. Readers can learn more about Missoula International Airport here.
