Small earthquake reported near Butte

MONTANA — A small earthquake measuring 2.9 was reported about 11 miles from Butte just after 9:30 last night.

People in the area may have felt some shaking. An earthquake of that size would not necessarily cause damage.

The report also noted that Montana sees seismic activity from time to time.

Western Montana sees that activity especially often.
