Stevensville residents wake up without water one day after power outage

Stevensville officials say they are currently working to determine the cause after residents of the town woke up without water on Tuesday morning.

It is the second time the town's water system has failed in the past four months.

Stevensville Public Works Department Director Stephen Lassiter said they were alerted to the problem around 5:30 a.m. and service was restored by 7:15 a.m. this morning.

A communication fault caused the wellhouse know to not send water to the reservoir overnight, according to Lassiter, causing it to run out Tuesday morning.

The water outage comes one day after roughly 1,600 in Stevensville were affected by a power outage due to issues with a NorthWestern Energy substation, according to Lassiter.

Officials are not sure if it was a computer error similar to the one in January that left many of the town's residents without water or if it is related to the power outage but engineers looking into it, according to Lassiter.
