Suspect identified for Bozeman, Belgrade knifepoint robberies

BOZEMAN, Mont. – Robberies in Bozeman and Belgrade led local police to identify a suspect, who was later arrested elsewhere on a separate set of charges.

The Bozeman Police Department (BPD) said the first robbery happened around 2:17 a.m. on Tuesday at a hotel near North 7th and Oak. The hotel reported that a man with a knife robbed the hotel of cash and fled.

Nearly 30 minutes later, a gas station near East Main and North Broadway reported that a man with a knife robbed the station and fled.

Bozeman police said descriptions of the man and robbery details “indicated the robberies were related.” They began investigating and learned that a similar robbery happened in Belgrade shortly after the two Bozeman robberies.

The BPD said its investigation led them to identify the suspect and that “the suspect is now in custody in another jurisdiction on separate charges.”

No one was injured in the Bozeman burglaries and there does not appear to be further risk to the public, BPD said.
