Two charged with attempted homicide after Missoula shooting downtown

A shooting incident early Sunday morning in downtown Missoula has led to two men being charged with attempted homicide and criminal endangerment.

Shortly after 2 a.m., Missoula police officers responded to a report of shots fired downtown, according to a Missoula Police Department press release. Soon after, a man came to the Missoula Police Department with a gunshot wound and several bullet strikes to his car, the release stated.

Officers responded to a scene near the 200 block of Ryman Street and recovered multiple spent casings. Detectives and patrol officers continued to investigate, and found another involved man on the 200 block of Woody Street. They also found another car associated with the shooting, as well as a handgun.

One man was transported to St. Patrick Hospital for treatment, while the other man was transported to the MPD for an interview with detectives.

Both 33-year-old Laurent Mugondozi and 36-year-old Anthony Brodie were charged with attempted homicide and criminal endangerment. Mugondozi was also charged with a DUI.

The investigation determined that shots were fired downtown with pedestrians nearby, which contributed to the criminal endangerment charges, according to the release.
