Virgelle Ferry cut nearly an hour in trooper's emergency response

A Montana Highway Patrol trooper used the Virgelle Ferry to reach a remote grain auger accident involving a seriously injured young worker.

A Facebook post from Montana Highway Patrol said the ferry crossing saved nearly an hour on the response.

Trooper Torgerson took photos from the Missouri River during the trip. The post said they captured how far apart and isolated some parts of Montana can be.

The agency said Torgerson was helping another agency. It said the response underscored how important teamwork and speed are in remote emergencies.
