'We are at war': Montana delegation backs U.S. strikes on Iran

Joint military strikes against Iran by U.S. and Israeli forces on Saturday were met with unanimous support by Montana's congressional delegation.

President Donald Trump posted a video on Saturday announcing the attack against the country's Islamic leadership and urging citizens there to "seize control of your destiny."

The U.S. has been stacking military resources in the area for weeks as Trump pushed for a deal to constrain Iran's nuclear development. The country's leadership has simultaneously faced a growing number of protests there.

Montana's all-Republican delegation widely supported the move.

U.S. Rep. Ryan Zinke said on social media Saturday that Secretary of State Marco Rubio had notified congressional leadership "in accordance with the War Powers Act" and added he looked forward to continued coordination between Trump and Congress.

"My prayers go out to our heroic service members and their families who participated in this action," Zinke, a former Navy SEAL, said on X. "We are at war."

U.S. Sen. Tim Sheehy, another combat veteran, called Saturday's operation a "righteous endeavor."

"To the people of Iran, rise up and seize YOUR country," he posted on social media. "America has your back."

U.S. Sen. Steve Daines' social media post thanked Trump for "strong moral clarity" and for the service men and women involved in the strikes.

"The Iranian regime is the world's largest state sponsor of terror and waged war against the United States and its allies for nearly 50 years," Daines said. "I support President Trump's actions to keep our nation safe and aid the people of Iran in their fight for liberty."

Like others on Saturday, U.S. Rep. Troy Downing criticized Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei for rejecting international efforts to scale down the country's nuclear development.

"The Iranian regime and its proxies have American blood on their hands," Downing, a U.S. Air Force veteran, said. "No President has possessed the grit to challenge this clear and present danger until now. God bless our troops in their fight for lasting peace."
