BOULDER, Mont. - A Whitehall woman faces charges of deliberate homicide, in the death of her 5-year old son.

Friends and family members of 5-year-old Reign Blair who told NonStop Local he was inseparable from his father.

“Tyler has just been a beautiful father. A father that I have never seen before. He did everything for that little man. That little man was so respectful, so kind and you know that came from his father,” said KC Silva, family friend of Reign Blair.

Reign's father Tyler had to go to work last Friday and asked the boy's mother, 40-year old Kathryn Garaas, to watch him and spend time with him.

Then the unexpected happened.

“I was on social media and saw something pop up on a Whitehall 5-year-old boy north of Whitehall and my mom heart instantly knew it was reign,” said Silva.

Kathryn Garaas was arrested and is now charged with deliberate homicide for murdering her son.

During arraignment on Monday morning, Garaas's bond was set at $5 million, with a future court date of May 13.

NonStop Local reached out to the Montana Department of Justice and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office for comment and both agencies say this investigation is currently ongoing.

Silva said Tyler, family, and friends are all grieving at this time and their goal right now is to seek justice for Reign.

“We want other families to be aware and be safe and hug and love each other because you just don’t know when something precious like that gets taken away,” said Silva.
