Woman in custody after apartment shooting incident near Toole County Sheriff's Office

TOOLE COUNTY, Mont. – Toole County deputies responded to an apartment complex on Monday after receiving reports of multiple gunshots.

The gunshot reports came in at 8:59 a.m. and a caller said a neighbor in the complex was the one shooting the gun, the Toole County Sheriff’s Office said.

The incident happened in the area of 400 block of Oilfield Ave to Galena St, near the Sheriff’s Office.

The Sheriff’s Office said deputies were “on scene immediately and began to assist residents out of the complex and notified residents within the area of concern.”

The Sheriff’s Office said it made several communication attempts with a woman involved in the incident. It said she eventually came to the main door of the complex and complied with deputies’ commands and was taken into custody at 11:45 a.m.

The investigation is still active, but there is no threat to the public or residents in the area, the Sheriff’s Office said.

The officer thanked several law enforcement agencies for assisting and thanked Albertsons for bringing food and water to officers involved.

“We appreciate the public’s cooperation and patience while this matter was concluded peacefully,” the Sheriff’s Office wrote.
