The Bobcat women’s basketball team faced off against the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks in a two-game series played on Thursday, Jan. 21, and Saturday, Jan. 23. In both games, the Cats ended up on the winning side, beating the Lumberjacks 79-56 on Thursday and 90-95 on Saturday.

Senior guard Tori Martell led the team in scoring in the Thursday matchup with 16 points shooting 2-4 from behind the arc. The Cats shot 51.7% from the field and 36.4% from behind the three-point line.

In the rematch, freshman forward Lexi Deden came in the game from off the bench but was lights out from the floor, registering a team and career-high 22 points. Four other Cats recorded a double-digit offensive effort (Martell and Leia Beattie with 14 points, Darian White with 12 points and Gabby Mocchi with 10 points). The Cats shot an impressive 48.1% from three-point range, far out-pacing NAU who were only 4-22.

The Bobcats enter rivalry week 4-2 in conference play and 7-5 overall. The Cats will face Montana on Thursday, Jan. 28, in Bozeman at 5 p.m. before traveling to Missoula on Saturday, Jan. 30, for a noon scheduled tip-off. Watch both games on Pluto TV channel 1057 or SWX Montana.
