Billings woman admits to deadly carjacking

BILLINGS, Mont. – A Billings woman has pleaded guilty to her role in a carjacking that resulted in a death, according to a press release from the U.S. Attorney's Office, District of Montana.

Shyanna Jo Whitewolf, 21, admitted to one count of carjacking resulting in death. She could face a maximum sentence of life imprisonment, a $250,000 fine and three years of supervised release.

The case was overseen by U.S. Magistrate Judge Timothy J. Cavan, with sentencing to be determined by U.S. District Judge Susan P. Watters. Sentencing will be scheduled at a later date. Whitewolf is currently detained.

Court documents show that on May 16, 2025, Violet Littlelight arranged for Keith Breckenridge to pick her up in Billings. Littlelight, Whitewolf and another accomplice allegedly planned to rob Breckenridge and take his truck, intending to exchange it for drugs or money with a dealer in Hardin.

Upon meeting the group, Breckenridge reportedly became suspicious, but Littlelight assured him that Whitewolf and the other accomplice needed a ride. Breckenridge allowed them into his truck based on her assurances.

While driving, Whitewolf engaged Breckenridge in conversation. Upon reaching an alley, Breckenridge was instructed to stop. He was then stabbed multiple times. The group removed Breckenridge from the truck, where he later died from his injuries.

The defendants drove the truck to Hardin, changed clothes and disposed of the bloody garments. They traveled to a house on the Crow reservation where they attempted to clean the truck. During this time, law enforcement arrived. Littlelight and the third accomplice fled, leaving Whitewolf at the scene. Whitewolf initially claimed no involvement with the truck and was arrested days later.

Assistant U.S. Attorneys Colin Rubich and Zeno Baucus prosecuted the case. The FBI, Billings Police Department and BIA conducted the investigation.
