Bozeman Fire Department shares ladder safety tips after CDC reports workplace injuries

BOZEMAN, Mont. — The Bozeman Fire Department shared ladder safety information on Facebook following federal data on workplace injuries.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, more than 22,000 workplace injuries involving ladders were reported in 2020. That same year, the CDC tracked over 160 workplace deaths related to ladder incidents.

The Bozeman Fire Department posted a ladder safety message on Facebook.

"Check before you climb. Inspect the ladder to make sure it's safe," the department said. "Slow and stable wins the race. Make sure the ladder is on stable, level ground and climb slowly. Don't stack your stuff. Ladders aren't designed to hold tools, which could become falling objects."

The fire department also recommends always maintaining three points of contact with the ladder and climbing carefully.
