Bozeman Hosts Third Annual Women In Business Summit Celebrating Women’s History Month

BOZEMAN, Mont. – The Armory Hotel in Bozeman played host this year to the annual Women in Business Summit, put on by the Montana Chamber of Commerce.  

This annual event, part of Women's History Month celebrations, featured panel discussions, networking opportunities and workshops.  

Now in its third year, the summit brought together both international participants, as well as those from across the Treasure State.  

Among them was Katja Ackerly, the Consul General to Los Angeles, who represents the New Zealand Government in the 12 western states.  

Ackerly highlighted the significance of community among women in leadership.  

"My takeaway is that we need to find that community to give one another strength, so that we are empowered to be bold," said Ackerly.  

Over two and a half days, attendees engaged in networking, brand building, listened to keynote speakers, and participated in workshops.  

Event organizers emphasized the importance of networking among those in attendance.  

Nancy Schlepp, a summit organizer and Vice President of Sandfire Resources, said, "This summit specifically really helps to represent and support women owned businesses by networking. I think that's the best gift of this conference, is, just being able to meet other women and interact with them."  

Misty Kuhl, another organizer and Governor Gianforte’s Director of Indian Affairs, added, "An event like this, particularly during this month and this day is being able to provide a forum for women who don't normally get to be together and network."  

As the Bozeman summit concluded Friday afternoon, other events across the state continue to celebrate Women’s History Month throughout March, and International Women’s Day on March 8th. 

At the Montana State Library, the Women in Montana Project highlighted the accomplishments of women throughout the state's history.  

In Missoula, a mural at the Missoula State Capitol Building celebrated the history of women's leadership in Montana, which is notable for being the first mural in the capitol building in over 80 years.
