Bozeman man pleads guilty to child pornography receipt after Cybertips lead to his arrest

BOZEMAN, Mont. – A 24-year-old Bozeman man pleaded guilty to receipt of child pornography on Tuesday, over a year-and-a-half after Cybertips prompted an investigation into his account.

The suspect originally faced 34 charges of possessing child pornography and one count of receiving it after Bozeman police found around 688 videos and 362 images of child pornography on his phone.

The Montana Attorney General’s Office said law enforcement received a tip about the suspect in June 2023, indicating that an account registered to him had paid $20 for child pornography, with a note stating “For the cp gc.”

Law enforcement obtained a warrant and arrested the suspect on April 9, 2025. During his arrest, he waived his Miranda right and admitted to trading child pornography on social media sites, the Attorney General’s Office said.

After pleading guilty, the suspect faces mandatory minimum term imprisonment of five years, with a maximum term of 20 years, a $250,000 fine and at least five years to lifetime of supervised release.

His sentencing is set for July 1, 2026 and he was released with conditions pending further investigation, the Attorney General’s Office said.
