Bozeman sees rise in DUI cases with seven offenses reported

Bozeman, Mont. – It has been a busy week for the Bozeman Police Department, which managed 1,393 calls for service and opened 114 cases, including seven DUI offenses.

In a Facebook post, the department shared details about a specific incident on February 28. An officer responded to a traffic crime report involving a suspected intoxicated driver. The reporting party noted the driver was speeding and nearly collided with another vehicle. The officer later found the driver and his wife hiding near a backyard. Admitting to driving, the driver underwent field sobriety tests.

The breath test revealed an alcohol concentration of .209, almost three times the legal limit. The investigation uncovered the driver had two prior DUI convictions, leading to a citation for Aggravated Driving Under the Influence.

The Bozeman Police Department urges locals to call 911 if they suspect someone is driving under the influence. "It’s important for BPD to find the driver and potentially get them off the road as soon as possible to keep our community safe," said the department.
