Bozeman's Bikefill Park Master Plan Finalized, Construction Set To Begin

BOZEMAN, Mont. — A new bike park is one step closer to becoming a reality for the Bozeman community.  

The Gallatin Valley Land Trust has finalized the master plan for the Bikefill Community Park, a project first announced last summer.  

The plan includes background on the history of the project, outlines trails and features of the park, and provides a timeline for construction.  

Executive Director of the Gallatin Valley Land Trust Chet Work says the master plan is significant, as it brings the park one step closer to becoming a reality.  

"In order to get moving with construction of the park this summer, this was the appropriate timing to deliver a master plan and see if we can get approval to start the project," Work said.  

With the park being situated on public land, a master plan was required by the city to outline the features of the proposed space.  

Work says the community response to the master plan and the park itself has been overwhelmingly positive.  

"We're really grateful. I think there's been a lot of creativity around what the community wants to see in this park," Work said. "I think a lot of people are really embracing the idea that this will be a wonderful park for families."  

When the master plan went out to community members for feedback, more than 1,000 bike enthusiasts responded with input for the park to be accessible for all skill levels from beginner to advanced.  

As Bozeman prepares to welcome this project to their community, Bikefill is just one part of a larger network of similar spaces throughout the state.  

Syringa Bike Park resides in Missoula, which includes dirt jump lines and skills features.  

In Big Sky, their own community pump track and multi-use park was completed in June 2024.  

With the master plan complete, the next phase of the project is construction, slated to begin near the end of May and early June.
