Broadwater County announces new interim sheriff following leadership change

BROADWATER COUNTY, Mont. — Broadwater County has a new interim sheriff following a leadership transition at the Sheriff's Office.

According to Sheriff Mark. W. Wood, Sheriff Rauser stepped back from his duties as sheriff on March 23. Mark W. Wood has assumed full responsibility for operations of the Sheriff's Office and will be formally appointed as interim sheriff by the commissioners on Wednesday, April 1, to serve through the remainder of the year.

The transition ensures continuity of leadership.

Wood outlined the office's priorities in the announcement.

"Our priorities are clear: we will protect our citizens—especially our children—fight to keep drugs off our streets and ensure that every community in Broadwater County sees Proactive Patrols and strong law enforcement presence," Wood said.

The Sheriff's Office also announced changes to its leadership team. Jamie Buck was appointed as undersheriff on March 26. Tony Cordova was promoted to the rank of captain.

Wood said the leadership team and staff will focus on professionalism and accountability.

"We are moving forward with purpose, focus and a commitment to doing what's right for all the citizens of Broadwater County in a professional manner," Wood said.
