Browning steps up stray dog roundup after safety notice

BROWNING, Mont. — A public safety notice from the Blackfeet Fish and Wildlife Department warns of an increase in dog attacks across the Blackfeet Reservation, including one involving a boy on his way to school.

In a post shared on its Facebook page, the department said the recent incidents have raised concerns about the safety of young people and others in the community.

In response, animal control officials say they will increase efforts during the week of April 6, 2026, to round up stray dogs.

“Our priority is the safety of our residents. Together as a community, we can ensure our streets are safe for our youth and community members,” the department said.

Officials are also urging dog owners to keep their dogs secured and cared for, noting that letting dogs roam freely violates local ordinance.
