Central Valley Fire District rescues horse that had fallen from a bridge

BELGRADE, Mont. - The Central Valley Fire District helped rescue a horse on Sunday that had fallen from a bridge into a creek, where it became stuck with its head barely above water.

The horse—named Dream—is recovering after veterinary treatment, according to CVFD.

"Upon arrival, crews located the horse sitting in a small creek and being cared for by veterinarian Emma Peterson of Intermountain Veterinary Hospital who was already on scene," CVFD said in a social media post. "Firefighters coordinated with the veterinarians, the property owner, and assisting neighbors to develop a plan to safely rescue the horse while minimizing additional stress or injury."

CVFD said the horse was removed from the creek at around 4:55 p.m., approximately 40 minutes after the initial dispatch call.

Dream was transported to Hardaway Veterinary Clinic for further care.

CVFD also reminded the public to call for emergency assistance if they see a large animal in distress, rather than try to help themselves.
