Congressman Troy Downing joins House Committee on Natural Resources

WASHINGTON, D.C. — According to a press release, Congressman Troy Downing of Montana's 2nd district has been appointed to the House Committee on Natural Resources.

Downing shared his enthusiasm for the new role, stating, "Montana is defined by its wealth of natural resources. The laws and regulations impacting these resources have direct implications for the people I represent, and I could not be more excited to have a seat at the table that oversees energy production, mining, public lands, irrigation and our tribal communities as the newest member of the House Committee on Natural Resources."

Chairman Bruce Westerman commented on Downing's appointment, emphasizing the importance of Montana's natural resources. "Montana is blessed with vast natural resources, and Representative Downing will be a key ally in unleashing American energy dominance to lower costs for American families and conserving our public lands," said Westerman.

Downing represents central and eastern Montana, which are known for significant natural resources like the Powder River Basin coal deposit and the Stillwater Mine, the only Platinum and Palladium Mine in the U.S.

Before joining Congress, Downing served as Montana State Auditor and sat on the Board of Land Commissioners. He has supported natural resource legislation such as the Pet and Livestock Protection Act and the COAL POWER Act.

Downing is also a member of the Congressional Western Caucus, Public Lands Caucus and House Financial Services Committee.
