CASCADE COUNTY, Mont. — Strong winds have left 1,500 homes and businesses without power in Cascade County and about 1,200 homes and businesses in Choteau County.

Great Falls is particularly impacted, with about 1,200 homes experiencing a major outage and additional scattered outages reported throughout the town.

Northwestern Energy crews are currently assessing the situation.

In Fort Benton, approximately 800 homes are without power.

The state is currently under a weather alert with wind gusts between 50 and 80 mph.

These extreme winds have resulted in downed trees, damaged yards and fences and structural damage to buildings.
