Five people detained in Fort Benton traffic stops

FORT BENTON, Mont. — Five people are in U.S. Customs and Border Protection custody following two traffic stops in Fort Benton.

CBP says the five people detained are from Nicaragua and all have prior orders of removal from the United States. They were previously caught by immigration officials prior to the stops.

In a statement, CBP says the traffic stops were targeted and intelligence-driven enforcement actions taken by Havre Station Border Patrol agents following weeks of active investigation.
