Girl dies after shooting at Missoula apartment complex
Missoula, Mont. — A girl died after a shooting at an apartment complex on Alex Lane and a boy was taken into custody as investigators continued working the case.
Missoula police reported officers responded just after midnight on April 11 to a report of a girl who had been shot.
She was taken by ambulance to a hospital, where she later died from her injuries.
Police said a boy was in custody and faced a negligent homicide charge.
Because of the ages of those involved, police said names would not be released.
Detectives identified everyone involved and had already conducted multiple interviews, according to police.
At the scene, NonStop Local's Kendall Hudson went door to door and spoke with neighbors in the area. Many said they did not hear anything until police arrived.
The Missoula County Attorney's Office confirmed it was also investigating. The office said it had no further details at this time and said its thoughts were with the family.
Police said there was no ongoing threat to the public and that the investigation remained active.
Missoula police has not released additional details.
