HELENA, Mont. – Governor Greg Gianforte has proclaimed this week as Invest in Veterans Week in Montana, highlighting the valuable contributions of veteran-owned businesses.

"Invest in Veterans Week is an opportunity to thank the men and women who served our country and continue serving our communities as entrepreneurs and job creators," Gianforte said in a release. "I encourage Montanans to support veteran-owned businesses in their communities this week and throughout the year."

The governor released a map showcasing 13 veteran-owned businesses across the state. These businesses span various industries, including restaurants, professional services and retail. A few highlighted businesses include Freedom Express Car Wash in Belgrade and Classy and Sassy Coffee in Billings.

Montana boasts one of the highest percentages of veterans per capita in the U.S. According to the U.S. Small Business Administration, veterans make up nearly 5% of business owners nationwide.

In support of veterans, Gianforte signed a bill in 2023 exempting up to 50% of military retirement pay from state income tax. He also established educator licensing reciprocity for military members and invested $300 million in behavioral health care and veteran-focused employment programs.
