Great Falls house fire sends two minors for treatment

Great Falls, Mont. — Great Falls Fire Rescue said crews went to a house fire at 3609 1st Ave. North on April 1, 2026, at about 3:32 p.m.

Firefighters found the fire in a basement bedroom, according to a Great Falls Fire Rescue press release. They got it under control fast and most of the damage stayed in that room, but smoke spread through the house.

Two minors from the home were checked for injuries and smoke exposure and taken for medical care, the agency reported. Their condition was not available.

The American Red Cross is helping the people from the home . Northwestern Energy was also contacted to shut off gas service to the house.

Great Falls Fire Rescue said the cause was still being investigated.

The agency reported 30 fire calls from January 1 through April 1, 2026. That was up from 20 during the same time in 2025.
