High winds fuel brush fires in Gallatin, Choteau Counties

THREE FORKS, Mont. — A vegetation fire is spreading rapidly in the 5700 block of Yellowstone Trail, south of Three Forks. High winds are intensifying the situation.

Meanwhile, in Choteau County, multiple agencies are responding to a massive fire in Rock Ridge near Big Sag Road. More than 700 acres have burned as crews continue to battle the blaze in high winds. The cause of this fire is also unknown.

The fires come under a weather alert, with red flag warnings, high wind warnings and blowing dust advisories in effect.

Gusts have reached 76 mph in central parts of the state, making the fire more challenging to control.
