Letter to the editor: Thank Sen. Daines for GeoPOWER Act

I would like to thank Sens. Daines (R-MT) and Hickenlooper (D-CO) for their bipartisan Geo POWER Act. It is refreshing to see congressional members working across the aisle on important legislation that will benefit their constituents and address the climate change problem.

Geothermal energy is a consistent clean-energy source crucial for balancing intermittent renewables such as wind and solar. It would serve as a reliable partner to strengthen the electric grid. Additionally, geothermal offers a natural transition for workers in the oil and gas industry, as both sectors utilize engineering and field worker skills.

As Sen. Daines says, “Geothermal power is an important source of renewable energy for Montana communities….[to] increase made-in-America energy and support our nation’s energy independence.”
