Local police and fire agencies get $50,000 grants in Montana

MONTANA — An official statement said 10 local police and fire organizations received shares of a $500,000 grant.

Each organization received $50,000. The money was allocated through the Montana Emergency Tourism Assistance Grant Program.

The statement said the funding will help departments buy new gear, equipment and vehicles.

Montana Department of Commerce Director Marta Bertoglio commented on the funding.

"Emergency services are important to Montana communities -- especially in our rural areas. At Commerce -- we’re proud to help support those who are there to help people who may be in dangerous situations," Bertoglio said.
