Man shot in downtown Missoula overnight, 2 charged with attempted homicide and criminal endangerment

MISSOULA, Mont. - Two men were charged with attempted homicide and criminal endangerment after a man was shot in the early morning hours on Sunday.

The Missoula Police Department said that officers responded to reports of shots fired just after 2:00 a.m., and within minutes a man arrived at the department "with a gunshot wound and multiple apparent bullet strikes to his vehicle."

MPD found shell casings in the 200 block of Ryman Street. A man man involved in the incident was located nearby, police said, as well as a hand gun.

One man was transported to St. Patrick Hospital, another was brought back to MPD for an interview.

"Based on information gathered during the investigation, shots were fired in a busy downtown area with uninvolved pedestrians in the immediate vicinity, which contributed to the criminal endangerment charges," MPD said.

Two men were ultimately charged with attempted homicide and criminal endangerment, and one of them was also charged with a DUI.

The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is asked to contact MPD.
