Mary Gail Fairchild

May 17, 1943 - February 26, 2026

Mary Gail Fairchild, born May 17, 1943, in Butte, Montana, to Frank and Nora Shea, passed away on February 26, 2026 surrounded by the love of her family. Mary Gail grew up in Butte and attended St. Joseph's Elementary School and Butte High School before graduating from cosmetology school. She went on to enjoy a long career as a talented hair stylist, working at JCPenney, Dee's House of Hair, and Bei Capelli.

On May 7, 1965, Mary Gail married the love of her life, Bud Fairchild. Together they raised three children, Mike (Shannon) Fairchild, Colleene (Bill) Fogarty, and Kristine (Hank) Merrick. She was a devoted grandmother to Michael (Toni) Fairchild, Mason (Kylie) Fairchild, Joe (Becka) Fogarty, Erin and Maggie Fogarty and Morgan Merrick. She was a proud great-grandmother to Paisley, Charlie, Charlee, and Michael.

Mary Gail is survived by her brother, Dan (Mary Anne) Shea of Butte, and her sister, Fran (Douglas) Larken of Renton, Wash. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Nora Shae; in-laws, Earl and Olive Fairchild; her twin brother, Michael; and her older brother, Riley Shae.

Mary Gail will be remembered for her warmth, humor, and unwavering love for her family. In keeping with her wishes, no services will be held.
